I’m Hector Rivera, a graphic designer based in Boston, Massachusetts, with a BFA in Graphic Design from Boston University. I specialize in apparel graphics, branding, and developing visual systems. I currently lead the design and artistic direction of my brand and creative studio, Destroy Our Future. I have designed for small businesses, musicians, and artists, contributing to the development of visual languages that communicate the deeper meanings behind their identities. Through design, I aim to create a clearer, more ambitious, and audacious voice for the people and cultures I work with.

My work combines abstract forms, bold motifs, and cultural references to bridge the nuances of identity between the past, present, and future. As a Latin American designer, much of my practice is rooted in the history of my culture, both ancient and contemporary. I draw from visual language and material that I understand through lived experience, creating work that can carry different meanings depending on the viewer’s relationship to that culture.

I am interested in how culture influences design, and how design can, in turn, influence the way culture is understood, remembered, and carried forward. My work explores the space between history and contemporary identity, using design as a way to reinterpret what already exists while creating something that can belong to the future. This is the relationship I intend to continue exploring and developing throughout my practice as a designer.
